priMED offers a variety of Protective Gowns and Isolation Gowns to suit personal preferences and clinical requirements.
- Protective Gown: any gown that is used to protect the wearer from fluids or other material during patient bathing, instrument decontamination, or other procedures not requiring the patient to be in isolation. It may have an open back for added breathability.
- Isolation Gown: a gown that is used to protect healthcare workers and patients from the transfer of fluids or pathogens in patient isolation settings. It must be a full gown including front, back, and sleeves.
Materials:
PSB gowns (made of spun-bond polypropylene) provide basic coverage from gross contamination, but are not recommended where there is any risk of contact with fluids or potential pathogens.
Breathable SMS gowns provide barrier protection against infectious agents, while keeping the wearer cool and comfortable. priMED is among the first manufacturers to provide a range of AAMI level rated isolation gowns to meet AAMI standard PB70:2003.
Impervious gowns are generally made of two material types:
- PSB with a laminated PE (Polyethylene) coating
- PE (Polyethylene) plastic material
priMED’s standard gown offering includes:
- Universal and XL sizes
- Elastic or knit cuffs
- Ties at neck and waist
- Thumbloop gowns with over-head donning and tear-away yoke
